About Daniel Sheley

Daniel Sheley has been telling stories for most of his life, shaped early by myth, folklore, and the works of Thomas Malory and William Shakespeare. Those influences, combined with lived experience, inform his focus on character, belief, and the cost of choice.

He served in the U.S. Navy in both technical and leadership roles, experiences that deepened his understanding of systems, pressure, and human behavior. That same instinct for structure and strategy now drives not only his fiction but his work building a literary community in Midland, Texas, where he founded Ashweight Press, co-created the Pages and Tumbleweeds literary market, and leads the Scribes author group, now recognized by the Writers' League of Texas.

His debut saga, The Vaeritas Saga, launched with The Soul-Sung in April 2026 to critical acclaim, earning the Literary Titan Gold Book Award, a five-star Reedsy Discovery review, and a Reader's Favorite five-star badge. He is an Indies Today Award-winning author and a Writers' League of Texas Manuscript Contest finalist.

Daniel lives in Midland, Texas, with his wife Melissa, where he continues to explore the space where myth, memory, and meaning meet through his fiction.
